This Privacy Policy explains what information Feed the Pup collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with. Feed the Pup is built for households to coordinate pet care — most of what we collect exists so the people in your household can see the same feeding and walk activity.
Information We Collect
Account info: your email address and a display name. Household info: the household name, an invite code, and the list of members who've joined. Dog profiles: a name and an optional photo. Activity logs: timestamps of feedings and walks, and which household member logged them. Device info: a push notification token and your device's timezone, so we can deliver alerts at the right time. NFC tag pairing: a randomly generated tag ID and, if available, the physical tag's serial number — no location data is collected from tags or otherwise.
How We Use Your Information
We use this information to run the core features of the app: showing your household's shared feeding/walk log, sending push notifications for early or missed feedings and unmet walk goals, and letting you set up your dog's profile and NFC tags. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not build behavioral profiles for marketing purposes.
Who Can See Your Information
Everyone in your household can see the shared feeding log, walk log, dog profile, and each other's display names — that's the point of the app. People outside your household never see your data. We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
Third-Party Service Providers
We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run the app: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, and backend functions), Expo (push notification delivery and app updates), and Apple/Google (app distribution and platform-level push delivery). These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments — none of them are permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a managed Postgres database with row-level security rules that restrict access to your own household. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Dog photos are stored in a cloud storage bucket. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
Data Retention
We retain your account and household data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and all associated household data (if you're the only remaining member) are permanently deleted. See our Data & Compliance page for more detail.
Children's Privacy
Feed the Pup is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. See our GDPR/CCPA Rights page for details, or use the Delete My Account option in Settings at any time.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
